HCM Social Media Community Guidelines

 By posting, commenting, or replying on one of our posts on our social media channels, you are agreeing to abide by these Social Media Community Guidelines and further agreeing to comply with the social media guidelines imposed by the particular social media platform you are utilizing. We encourage our online community to engage in respectful interactions on our social media channels to facilitate diverse discussions in a safe and courteous environment. When commenting, please keep comments relevant to the original post.  

Comments are not pre-moderated and will be immediately released; however, we reserve the right to remove any content posted that does not observe this policy, and block or report users to violate our guidelines.  

The following will not be tolerated on any social media channels for HCM: 

  • Threats of any kind. Threatening language, harassment, violence, racism, bullying, profanity, attacks on or intimidation of any party, including our online community members or HCM staff/volunteers; malicious speech regarding topics of gender, sexual orientation, religion, gender identity, age, ethnic origin or race; sexist comments; hate speech; suggestion or encouragement of illegal activities; and demeaning remarks about personal appearance. 
  • Comments that contain false or misleading information 
  • Advertisements, solicitations, endorsements, or commercial content  
  • Spam or messages posted by fake accounts  
  • Pornographic images or statements 
  • Third-party intellectual property, such as copyright-protected material, trademarks, or logos without the consent of the owner of such intellectual property, and/or any violations of rights of publicity or privacy 
  • Personally identifiable information of any individual, including community members or HCM staff/volunteer members  
  • Messages impersonating HCM representative or claiming to speak on behalf of the museum 
  • Offensive, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate postings that can alienate constituents or affect the museum’s goodwill 
  • Anything that compromises the safety of an individual 

Failure to follow any of the above guidelines may lead to your comments being hidden, deleted, or reported. Moderators may issue a warning, or, in extreme cases, block your account.
